NORMAL, Ill. – The No. 8th-ranked Bethel University men's golf team notched a second place finish this past weekend in the 37-team Illinois Wesleyan Invitational carding a 592 (300-292) for the 36-hole event. The hosts and No. 4th-ranked Titans won the event with a four-under-par 568.
Other ranked teams in the field were No. 10 Aurora, No. 12 Saint John's and No. 21 Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Royals sat in fifth after 18-holes shooting 300 in their first official round of the spring portion of the schedule. They climbed three spots taking eight strokes off their day one score. BU carded the third most birdies with 22.

David Morton notched Bethel's top individual finish placing in a tie for fifth with a career-best 142 (75-67). He notched four birdies on the final day carding a career-low 67 (-4) and tying the program record for individual low round mark. It's his second top-five finish of the season.
• Playing as an individual,
Jack Wellen also earned All-Tournament Team honors tying for 10th with a season-best 146 (74-72). Wellen was two-over on day one thanks to an eagle on the par five 11th hole that totaled 511 yards. Off to a good start on day two with two birdies in his first five holes he shot one over.

Bethel heads to Florence, Ala. for the Shoals Intercollegiate hosted by Emory. The 54-hole event takes place Sunday, April 14 through Tuesday, April 16.
