The Bethel University Wellness Center (WLC) is a two-floor 11,000 square foot fitness facility located in the heart of the campus that is available to all students, staff, faculty, and alumni throughout the year. The top floor is dedicated to general fitness and is comprised of a 20 piece selectorized machine circuit, over 37 pieces of cardio equipment, a dumbbell area, and a group fitness studio with a capacity of 30. The bottom floor is home to the Penz Strength Center and is designed to meet the needs of our advanced trainees and the University’s 18 varsity athletic teams. On this floor you will find 16 combo racks and platforms, each outfitted with bands, chains, and PowerBlock DB sets ranging from 5 lbs to 125 lbs. In addition, this floor holds 25 unique strength pieces including glute/ham machines, lat pulldown machines , belt squat machines, leg press machines, assault bikes, and curve treadmills. Stretching the length of the Penz Strength Center is a 30 yd x 5 yd turf area for functional movement, speed and power workouts.
The Bethel University Wellness Center is staffed by two full-time Strength and Conditioning coaches as well as student interns. In addition to creating programming for the university’s general community throughout the year, these coaches develop unique and sport specific training programs for each of the 18 varsity sport teams. The Strength and Conditioning programs are delivered to our student athletes using a virtual platform called Teambuildr where all athletes access their workouts using tablets while working out on campus or through their phones when they are away from campus.
