MONTICELLO, Minn. – The No. 10th-ranked Bethel University men's golf team won the Saint John's Invitational this past weekend carding a three-over-par 575, defeating the hosts No. 12th-ranked Saint John's by six strokes. Bethel shot a 299 in the opening round where they sat second just two strokes behind Carleton before shooting a 286 (+2) in a weather-impacted final round to win it.
Conor Schubring brought in medalist honors for the second time this season carding a carrer-best six-under-par 137 for the weekend and winning by two strokes over Concordia's Gabe Benson and by three strokes over Saint John's Nate Loxtercamp.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Bethel led the field with 28 birdies as well as led the par three scoring at six over and par five scoring at four under.
• Schubring carded five birdies on the first day carding a three-under-par 69. He bested that mark in round two with a 68 highlighted by double-eagle (albatross) on the par-five No. 15 that played 512 yards.

David Morton notched his fourth top-10 finish of the year finishing sixth with a 143. Four birdies in round one led him to shoot an even par 72 at Wapicada Golf Club. On Sunday at Monticello Country Club, he carded another even par this time with a 71.

Ian Stelter notched his first top-10 finish of the season tying for seventh with a career-best 145. He shot a season-low 72 in round one before carding a 73 on day two.
