Royals Fall to Bennies

Box Score St. Joseph, Minn. – The Bethel University volleyball team dropped a game to their MIAC opponent St. Benedict's in three straight sets on Wednesday night. The Royals lost by scores of 25-18, 25-17, and 26-24. Royals drop to 4-11 (1-3).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
First Set
• Royals struggled on both sides, with a .135 hitting percentage while the Bennies boasted a .316 of their own
• CSB lead the set in offense with 16 kills to BU's 11
• The Bennies controlled the first set, only letting up the lead once at 6-7 and was forced into a tie four times
• The biggest stretch of the set came with the game tied at 7-7, the Bennies would go on a 12-2 run to push the lead to 19-9 and taking firm control

Second Set
• CSB once again controlled on both ends, keeping the Royals to a .231 hitting percentage, while they had a .395
• Royals jumped out to a 5-0 lead, followed by a 6-1 run by the Bennies to tie the game at six-all
• With the game at 10-12 CSB, the Bennies would go on a 10-5 run to take a 22-14 lead and grasp command of set two

Third Set
• Royals put up a fight in set three as the set finished with 11 ties and four lead changes
• The competitive final set had a come from behind victory for CSB as they would go on a 5-1 run to win the set 26-24
• The final set of the night consisted of defensive play, as both BU and CSB had hitting percentages of .115 and .123 respectively

WHAT'S NEXT
The Royals are back at it on Friday, October 6 when they take on the Hamline Pipers at home in the Robertson Center. The game is scheduled for 7 PM.
