COLFAX, Wisc. – The Bethel Royals placed 17th out of 25 teams at the Blugold Invite on Friday evening. "We have been taking some big steps forward in practice and workouts, and our guys got rewarded with personal and season bests today," said Head Coach Kevin Rengo. "It's satisfying to watch our men really start to believe in themselves."
All 5 of Bethel's scoring runners set season best times. Reese Thompson got out aggressively and was the Royals' top finisher with a time of 26:47 (109th). Aidan St. George kicked hard to close the gap on Thompson and finished one place behind him in 26:48 (110th). Sophomore Grant Graber ran confidently and earned a personal best time by over a minute, running 26:54 (121st). Gabe Kuecker dropped his time from the previous meet to run 28:02 (209th), and Luke Peterson had a personal best time by over a minute to run 28:12 (221st).
"We had great energy today from our guys," said Rengo. "We're taking steps in the right direction to get us prepared to run our best at the championship meets."
The Royals will race next at the Jim Drews Invitational in West Salem, Wisconsin, on Saturday, October 14th. That will be the final tune up before the MIAC Championships at Highland Park Golf Course in St. Paul, on Saturday, October 28th.
