NEW PRAGUE, Minn. – The Bethel University men's golf team notched a second-place finish at the Bobby Krig Invitaitonal hosted by Gustavus Adolphus Saturday afternoon. The Royals carded a 308 after inclement weather forced the tournament to a single round of 18 holes. BU's "B" squad placed nine with a 329.
Bethel led the field in par 3 scoring shooting a seven-over under the frigid and windy conditions. The Royals also were first carding nine birdies on the day.
Conor Schubring had Bethel's best finish of the day placing in a tie for ninth with a 76. He shot a three over on the front nine with a pair of double-bogeys before bouncing back on the back nine with a two-over 38 finishing out birdie-par-bogey-par.
David Morton and
Jack Wellen each tied for 14th with six-over 77s. Morton shot a four-over on the front nine closing it out with a double bogey. He recovered though with a birdie on 12 before finishing out the back nine two-over with four straight pars. Wellen shot three-over on both the back and front nine. He closed out the day nicely tapping in birdie on the par-four second green.
Jacob Hall and
Ian Stelter finished in a tie for 18th with a seven-over 78. Hall had a five-over on the front nine, he had six pars and one birdie for a two-over on the back nine. Stelter was even through his first five holes after starting on the fifth tee box. Following a couple of double bogeys on the back nine he finished the day with three straight pars.
Will Karkoc finished in a tie for 35th with an 82 (+11) on the day.
Chase Bocken had the top finish on Bethel's "B" team placing in a tie for ninth with a career-low round of 76 (+5).
