Thompson & Graber All-Conference, Royals 8th at MIAC Championships

RESULTS

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Reese Thompson and Grant Graber both earned All-MIAC honorable mention accolades as the Royals finished 8th at the MIAC Championships on Saturday with 187 team points - just 12 points away from 5th place. "Our guys ran tough today," said Head Coach Kevin Rengo. "I'm proud to see how far we have come in our belief since our first 8k. We set a goal of 5th place at the beginning of the year and we got really close to that mark."

Captain Reese Thompson led the way for Bethel, coming away with a season best time of 26:10 on the hilly course at Highland Park, placing him 18th overall. "Reese really stuck his nose in there with the main chase pack," said Rengo. "His attitude and leadership were incredible this weekend, just like it has been throughout the whole season." Grant Graber had a terrific race as he outkicked a Macalester and St. Olaf runner in the final stretch to snag the final All-MIAC honor in 25th place. Graber also earned a personal best time of 26:26 over the 8k distance.

Senior Aidan St. George was the 3rd Royal to cross the finish line. St. George's time of 27:00 put him in 46th place. Freshman Tamu Abide took 73rd place in 27:46, and sophomore Gabe Kuecker fought through illness to round out the scoring for Bethel. Kuecker was 88th in a time of 28:11.

The Royals will conclude the championship portion of the season by racing at the NCAA North Region Championship at St. Olaf on Saturday, November 12th.
