SARTELL, Minn. – A strong showing from the Bethel University men's golf team placed them in a tie for second at the Saint John's Fall Invitational carding a 609 (291-318) for the weekend. The Royals had two top-15 finishers led by
Will Karkoc and
Zach Owen.
Karkoc notched a ninth-place finishing shooting a collegiate-best 150 for the weekend. Four birdies in the opening round paced him to an even 72. Facing tougher conditions on Sunday with a strong wind presence, Karkoc shot a 78 with three birdies.
Owen placed in a tie for 12th with a career-best 152 through the 36-hole event. Starting on strong through the first 18 holes, two birdies and 13 par putts paced him to a career-low 73. A seven-over 79 on day two came with a three-over on the front nine and four-over on the back.
Notching a top-20 finish were both
Jacob Hall and
Jack Wellen placing in a tie for 17th, each shooting a collegiate-bests 154. Four birdies on the opening day from Hall helped him shot an even 72 before carding an 82 on the second day. Wellen, who also had four birdies, carded a two-over 74 before shooting 80 on day two.
Rounding out Bethel's top five was
Noah Frobom who finished in a tie for 35th carding a 160 (79-81) for the weekend.
