Greensboro, NC - The Bethel Royals had three hurdlers earn All-American awards on Saturday at the NCAA Division III National Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina. "I am so incredibly proud of all of our athletes," said Head Coach
Andrew Rock. "The resiliency they have shown throughout the year has been inspiring. To go through everything they have needed to go through to get here and then perform with poise, joy, and gratitude was amazing to see!"
Kelsie Sealock started the day off with a 4th place finish in the 100m hurdles with her time of 14.21. In the preliminary round, Sealock set the school record and became the first MIAC athlete to ever break 14-seconds with a time of 13.94. This is the first national meet that she had competed in.Â
Later in the day,
Joel Smith and
Tyler Sealock both ran in the 400m hurdle final. After two re-starts in the pouring rain, Smith took 2nd place in a time of 52.82, just a quarter-second behind the winner. Sealock utilized a strong second half to race is way into 5th place with his time of 54.52. This is the first time two Bethel athletes have been named All-Americans in the same individual event.Â
"This season has had so many challenges, but I'll always remember how special it was to see our team work hard through tough circumstances and come together for each other," says Rock.Â
