COON RAPIDS, Minn. – The Bethel University men's golf team notched a sixth-place finish at the 2021 MIAC Championships held at Bunker Hills Golf Club. Bethel carded a weekend-low 308 brining its 54-hole total to 771. The Royals finished two strokes behind Augsburg.
The Royals finished second in par three scoring and fourth in par fives. BU nailed 31 birdie putts and led the field with a pair of eagles.
Newcomer
Will Karkoc notched BU's best finish carding a 188 for the weekend good enough for 12th place. Four birdies on the day and going two-over on both the front and back nine gave up a four-over par 76 for the day.
Freshman
Jacob Hall tied for 16th finishing with a 193 in his first MIAC Championship. Hall went four-over on the front nine and seven-over-par on the back nine for a an 83 on the final day. Birding the par-five fourth green and par-four 15th he finished the weekend with nine birdies.
Jack Wellen, also playing in his first MIAC Championship had his best round of the weekend carding a 77 in the final 18 holes. A pair of birdies through four holes helped him go two-over-par at the turn. On the back nine he carded six pars and three bogeys. Wellen finished in a tie for 23rd with a 196.
In his final MIAC Championship,
Noah Frobom finished in a tie for 31st with a 199. Having his best round of the weekend, Frobom carded a 77 going two-over-par on the front nine and three-over-par on the back nine. His highlight of the weekend came on the par-five fourth green where he carded one of the two BU eagles on the weekend.
Zach Owen placed 34th with a 202 on the weekend. Three birdies on the front nine put him at one-over-par at the turn before going five-over on the back nine carding a 78 on the final day.
The Royals fall portion of the season comes to an end as they turn their attention to spring.
