ST. PAUL, Minn.—
Amanda Passaglia shattered her own hammer throw school record at Saturday's Hamline Invite, adding nearly a full meter onto her previous top mark. Her throw of 156-02 (47.61 meters) is the top throw in the MIAC this season by over seven feet, and placed her second overall at the meet, behind only a competitor from the University of Minnesota.
Passaglia was not the only Bethel record-setter Saturday. The women's 4x100-meter relay team set a meet record, taking .11 seconds off the previous record held by Bethel's 2012 team.
Jill Krier,
AddieKay Johnson,
Hanna Frekot and
Delia Labatt combined to win the event in 48.39. The squad is ranked first in the MIAC and sixth nationally with their time of 48.16, run two weeks ago in San Diego.
Individually, Labatt ran a MIAC-leading 25.10 in the 200-meter dash, setting a personal best by over half a second and putting herself at #2 on Bethel's all-time performance list. Krier ran a personal best in that race as well, crossing the line in 25.79.
In just her second time running the 800 meters, and first time outdoors,
Sara Wegner won the event in 2:15.92. That mark makes her the fifth-fastest performer in Bethel history and is currently the top time in the conference.
The 4x400-meter relay of
Sara Wegner,
Delia Labatt,
Erin Alpers and
Nicole Balzer crossed the line in 4:01.92, good for third place and the top best MIAC time this season.
The Royals return to action next Saturday, Apr. 8, at the St. John's Invitational in Collegeville, Minn.
