CoSIDA RELEASE
ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — The 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Volleyball Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Among those honored was Bethel University middle blocker
Kristin Stern, who was named to district six's (Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin) first team. Only seven individuals from District 6—comprised of the 52 Division III schools—were selected to receive this honor in 2017, meaning that less than one percent of D-III volleyball players in the district earned this recognition. Stern is the fourth Bethel volleyball player to ever receive this prestigious recognition and the first since 2012.
The Sioux Falls, S.D., native put together a memorable career while donning navy and vegas. It started with the MIAC Rookie of the Year campaign in 2014, followed by helping her team reach the Elite 8 in her sophomore year, and finishing her senior season with four straight MIAC Playoff appearances and the program's all-time record for career hitting percentage (.326).
The Accounting and Finance major with a 3.96 GPA received five MIAC Player of the Week honors, one MIAC Elite 22 trophy, two MIAC All-Conference accolades, and two MIAC Academic All-Conference awards along the way.
All nominees must be of a sophomore or older academic standing with a 3.30 GPA or higher. The Academic All-District teams are voted upon and selected by registered members of CoSIDA. Stern is now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, which will be announced later this year.
