ARDEN HILLS, Minn.—Senior
Mikayla Nordin has been honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as one of 11 members on the 2016 Capital One Academic All-District Division III District Six Women's Soccer Team.
Those who received this honor were recognized as the nation's top student-athletes for their impressive performance athletically as well as academically. Nordin, a 3.87 nursing major at Bethel, has also been the recipient of the MIAC Academic All-Conference award both her sophomore and junior year.
The Elkhorn, Neb., native has played played and started all 17 games for BU. Nordin has made an impressive eight goals throughout the 2016 season, including four in 10 conference contests. She's currently second among all Bethel players in total points with 23, but leads the team in points during conference play with a total of 11. Moreover, Nordin and her teammates have led Bethel's women's soccer team to their most conference wins in program history (7).
Nordin and the Royals will closeout MIAC competition Saturday at Macalester. They'll then wait to hear whether they host a postseason game on Tuesday or Wednesday, but regardless, they will host their first playoff game in program history. Currently sitting in third place, a win over Macalester and an Augsburg loss vs. St. Thomas would give Bethel the No. 2 seed in the MIAC Playoffs and a first-round bye. If either of those things don't happen, BU will host a quarterfinal game on Tuesday.
