ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Bethel University women's soccer team closed out its 2025 campaign on Saturday afternoon with a 4–0 loss on the road to Macalester College. While the result didn't go the Royals' way, the day carried deeper meaning as it marked the final match under Head Coach Ben Linder, who has led the program with dedication, integrity, and care throughout his time in Arden Hills.
Macalester opened the scoring in the 17th minute and added a penalty goal just before halftime to take a 2–0 lead. The Scots struck twice early in the second half to extend their advantage, but Bethel continued to compete with energy and resilience through the final minutes.
Goalkeeper Autumn Maki turned away four shots in her full 90 minutes of action, anchoring a back line that featured strong defensive work from Anna Sukle, Kendall Craigan, and Hannah Helberg. Sukle also contributed offensively with two shots on goal, while Jessica Oliver and Eleanor Rundell each recorded quality looks that tested the Macalester keeper.
Off the bench, Sarah Motalebi, Eva Patenaude, and Natalie Daniels brought a spark to the midfield, while Malia Beilby and Sydney Ebner worked to create space in the attacking third. Despite being outshot 13–6, Bethel earned six corner kicks and showed flashes of the composure and chemistry developed throughout the season.
The Royals conclude the year 3–13–2 overall and 3–7–1 in MIAC play, a record that reflects both the growing pains and progress of a young roster. As the team looks ahead to a new chapter, the impact of Coach Linder's leadership—marked by his investment in player growth, faith, and community—remains a lasting part of Bethel women's soccer.
