Box Score 2 SUPERIOR, Wis.—Bethel University's volleyball team collected a pair of nonconference victories against UW-Superior and St. Scholastica Tuesday night in a triangular affair at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. The Royals downed the hosting Yellowjackets 3-1 in the opening match before throttling the Saints 3-0 in their final contest of the night.

Game One [Statistics]Â
In BU's matinee affair with UW-Superior, the Royals were able to hit .292 as a team with 60 total kills, 57 digs, and six serving errors. Bethel took the opening set 25-19, and despite falling in the second 21-25, rebounded nicely in the third and fourth games to collect the W.

Katie Lubben had an exceptional match, as the sophomore setter dished out 43 assists along with 12 digs and three kills. Lubben greatly benefitted from three players that mustered double-digit kills, including
Carlee Hoppe,
Kristin Stern, and
Nicole Deberry.

For the match Hoppe tallied 19 kills and a .359 attacking mark, while Stern went for 13 kills and four blocks. Deberry amassed 11 kills over the four sets and hit .429 from the right side.

Courtney Sheets led the Royals defensively with 16 digs throughout the late afternoon occasion.

Game Two [Statistics]Â
The second match immediately followed the first and the Royals refused to take their foot off the gas pedal, cruising to a 3-0 victory over the Saints of Saint Scholastica by scores of 25-17, 25-12, and 25-18. Bethel hit an astounding .324 as a team and amassed 58.0 points throughout the three-set saga.

Freshman
Kristin Stern was sensational in BU's second match of the day, spraying 15 kills in just 22 attempts throughout the three sets, which saw her hitting percentage soar over .600. Continuing the trend, teammate
Carlee Hoppe also accumulated double-digit kills—this time she earned 10 kills on 31 total attempts (.258).

Courtney Sheets continued to carry the torch for defensive leader—recording 13 digs in the three frames.
Kali Johnson was credited for 10 digs herself, alongside two service aces.
Katie Lubben wracked up an additional 31 assists throughout the second match and dumped the ball for four kills.

Looking AheadÂ
The Royals travel to St. Peter, Minn., this Friday and Saturday for the
2014 Gustavus Adolphus Volleyball Invitational at the Gus Young Court. Bethel will face UW-Stout and Coe College Friday evening at 4 and 8 p.m., followed by a 2 and 4 p.m. date Saturday against UM-Morris and Simpson College.Â
