Chicago Blanks Bethel, 3-0

CHICAGO – The Bethel University men's soccer team fell 3-0 at the University of Chicago Saturday afternoon. Playing for the second time in the last 24 hours, the Royals found themselves once again tied 0-0 at the end of the first period but were unable to hold off the Maroon's in the second period.

The Royals were able to keep the Maroon's off the scoreboard in the first half as freshman Jakob Bartels made three saves. Bethel was able to put two shots on goal themselves in the first period but were outshot 13-3 overall. Chicago scored the game's first goal 20 minutes into the second period. The game remained 1-0 until late in the contest the Maroon's added a pair of insurance goals at 81:50 and 83:16.

The loss drops Bethel to 4-4 on the season while Chicago improved to 5-3. The Royals will return to Minnesota and MIAC action with a match at Augsburg College Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
