ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - The Bethel Men's Basketball team matched up against the St. Thomas Tommies this evening at the Robertson Center, in search of their first conference victory on the year. Unfortunately, that wait will have to be a little longer as the Royals lost to the Tommies by a score of 93-65 tonight.
The fast-paced game cranked up quickly from the tip-off as the scoring was frequent and the Royals had a difficult time keeping pace with the Tommie attack. As the half wound down, the Royals found themselves trailing by a score of 46-27.
A daunting deficit, but nonetheless capable of being reached, Bethel would have to put together a better half of play if they wished to defeat the Tommies. Despite their best efforts, the lead was just to much to surpass as St. Thomas cruised to a victory. While it still counts in the lose column, the Royals did have encouraging performances from
Greg Meyer (So., Brooklyn Center, Minn.),
Daniel Baah (Jr., Farmington, Minn.), and
Taylor Hall (So., Blaine, Minn.) this evening. Meyer led all scorers with 17 points and really found his stroke mid-way through the second half. Baah and Hall each had steady scoring outputs of 15 and 14 respectfully.
The Royals hit the road next week when they take on St. Mary's University in Winona, Minnesota. Following that game, Bethel will travel up to Collegeville where they take on the Johnnies of St. John's.
