Royals Falter Against Saint Benedict

ST. JOSEPH, Minn.
- Turnovers were the Royals downfall tonight against the College of Saint Benedict, as they fell 74-60 on the road.

In the first half, the Royals made 48% of their shots but Saint Benedict shot 55% and took a seven point lead into halftime. The Blazers used an 16-8 run to end the first. Scotti Moats (Fr., Waconia, Minn.) put together a solid half, posting eight points and three rebounds.

Coming out of halftime, Bethel outscored Saint Benedict 8-2 in the first 3 minutes, pulling the score within one. However, the home team pushed the deficit to 10 by the 12:34 mark and never surrendered the lead.

The Royals had three players score in double figures, with Shana Grejtak (Jr., Franklin, Minn.) leading Bethel in scoring and rebounding. She tallied a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Royals cut the turnovers in the second half but were out-rebounded 20 to 15, keeping Bethel from making one final push. For the game, Bethel made 22 while the Blazers had 22 assists and turned the ball over only 13 times. Laura Canton was the Blazers' leading scorer with 19 points, including 3-3 from the three-point line. 

After the loss, the Royals drop to 5-10 (4-8) and Saint Benedict improves to 11-4 (9-3). Bethel plays again this Saturday, at home versus Saint Mary's University, beginning at 1 p.m.
