ARDEN HILLS, Minn.
- History continues to be rewritten for the Bethel women's soccer team. Today's 2-1 win over St. Olaf marks the first ever win against the Oles, and it also marks the first time in the program's 17-year history that the Royals have earned more than three conference wins in a season.

Brittany Griffore (So., Maple Grove, Minn.) was the star of the afternoon, scoring both goals, including the game-winner with less than 40 seconds remaining. Her first goal came as part of a scrum in front of the St.Olaf net in the first half, where several Oles tried to clear the ball, but the Royals prevailed as Anne Fazio (Fr., Holland, Mich.) assisted the 1-0 go-ahead goal.

It wasn't until the 61st minute of the game that St. Olaf answered with a goal off of a free kick from Christina Herron-Sweet, assisted by Christine Barringer.

The two teams engaged in a deadlock for the next 29 minutes until Griffore scored her team leading 13th goal of the season with just 35 seconds left on the clock. Leah Hardie (So., Ankeny, Iowa) was credited with her seventh assist of the season, giving her 23 points. Griffore leads the team with 33 points, which ties Assistant Coach Jessie (Tschetter) Halverson's single season record set just two years ago in 2007. Griffore has also scored five goals in conference play, which ties Lauren Johnson's records set in 2003 and 2006, and she has broken the school record for points earned in MIAC competition with 12 points, thanks to today's goals.

Although the Royals have been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, they did their part to play spoiler today as St. Olaf still has a chance to enter the post-season at 6-4 in the MIAC and 11-6 overall. Bethel has an 11-5-1 record overall and a 4-5-1 conference record going into their final game of the season this Saturday against St. Catherine at home, beginning at 1 p.m.
