ROSEVILLE, MINN.—The Bethel University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision off a goal in the 73rd minute from Northwestern's Ada Meehan. It marked the first game for Bethel head coach Sheila McGill.
The Royals fall to 0-1, while the Eagles improve to 1-0.

A 15-13 shots advantage was had by Bethel, which included an 8-4 edge in an opening half that ended with a 0-0 score. The second half consisted of a 9-7 lead in shots for Northwestern (Minn.), which included Ada Meehan's game-winning tally in the 73rd minute that propelled them to a 1-0 victory over the Royals.
Meehan had a game-high five shots for the Eagles, while Hannah Kvant's three shots paced the Royals.
Abby Wright registered six saves in net for the Royals, while Samantha Hansen also had six stops for the Eagles.
Bethel will host UW-Stevens Point at Royal Stadium on Friday, September 4 at 4 p.n.
