GENEVA, Ohio - Freshman
Timmy Ball earned All-American honors by finishing 8th in the discus at the NCAA Championships. Ball used his first throw of 47.93m / 160'3" to win his flight and earn a position in the finals. Ball joined teammates
Jayson Ekiyor and
Landen Liu as just the 3rd freshman in program history to earn All-American status in an individual event.
The men's 4x400m relay team of
Jacob Parent,
Josh Thomsen,
Victor Lelinga, and
Grant Nelson dominated their prelim heat, leading the entire way and winning with their time of 3:09.67. They will be the top seed going into Saturday's final.
The men's 4x100m relay team of
Cameron McConnell,
Grant Nelson,
Sam Raitz, and
Jacob Parent placed 7th in the preliminary round with their time of the 40.62 seconds. They will run in the finals on Saturday.
Jayson Ekiyor earned his place in the finals of the 400H as he placed 4th in the prelims with his time of 52.38 seconds.
Josh Thomsen placed 10th with his time of 53.08 and
David Myres was 17th in 54.49.
Kelsie Sealock qualified the 400H finals as she placed 7th in the preliminary round with her time of 61.72 seconds.
The women's 4x400m relay team of
Madi Pelowski,
Abbie Swenson,
Hailey Gregg, and
Shalom Sulungaine wrapped up with season as they finished 13th with their time of 3:52.19.
The Royals will have several athletes competing in the preliminary rounds on Friday.
Landen Liu will race the 100m dash,
Jacob Parent,
Grant Nelson, and
Shalom Sulungaine will all run the 400m dash,
Jayson Ekiyor races the 110H, and
Kelsie Sealock will race the 100H.
