Grant Nelson Named May 11 USTFCCCA Male Athlete of the Week

ARDEN HILLS, MINN.—Grant Nelson was named May 11 United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association of American (USTFCCCA) Division III Male Athlete of the Week. This marked the first time a Bethel individual landed USTFFFCA Division III Male Athlete of the Week, dating back to 2015.

Nelson took home a multitude of first-place finishes at the 2026 MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship on May 8-9 in Northfield, Minnesota. His performances helped the Royals secure their third-straight MIAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship.

He won the 2026 MIAC Men's Outdoor 400 Meter Dash Championship with a school-record 46.06, which ranks atop NCAA Division III. That topped the previous school record of 46.20 achieved by Nelson in 2025. The hardware continued for Nelson in the 200 Meter Dash, where he claimed the title with a 21.11. 

Grant Nelson, Landen Liu, Cameron McConnell, and Stephen Feig claimed the 2026 MIAC Men's Outdoor 4x100 Meter Relay Championship with a 40.74, which puts them at No. 10 in NCAA Division III.

He began the meet with a first-place time of 21.16 in the 200 meter dash prelims, and a third-place time of 48.63 in the 400 meter dash prelims. 

Nelson and a multitude of Royals will compete in various last chance meets in the coming weeks with hopes of qualifying for the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship in La Crosse, Wisconsin on May 21-23.
