HASTINGS, Minn. – The Bethel University women's golf team notched a fourth-place finish at the 11-team Gustie Spring Invite. The Royals shot a 651 (+75) for the weekend, falling a stroke behind Gustavus Adolphus. Saint Benedict finished second while Macalester finished first with a 635.
Bethel led after the opening round where they shot a 326 (+38). BU took a stroke off of that mark with a 325 in round two, but the Scots shot an incredible 303 (+15) on day two to jump past the Royals.
Greta McArthur was BU's top finisher placing fourth with a 12-over-par 156 (75-81). It's her fourth top-five finish of the year and 12th of her Bethel career. McArthur was second in par-four scoring among the field where she was five-over for the weekend. She notched four birdies on the weekend where two of those came on the par-five, 458-yard 14th hole.
Laura Beltman, who played as an individual, finished fifth after climbing five spots on the final day. She carded a 158 (+14) in the 36-hole event. It's her second top-five finish of the year and fifth of her career. Beltman shot an 82 on the opening day before carding a four-over-par 76 on day two that was highlighted by a birdie on the par-three 15th green. She closed the tournament with three straight pars.
Courtney Hershberger rounded out BU's top three finishers by finishing tied for 11th with a 163 (+19). She shot an 80 in the opening round thanks to a four-over-par on the front nine, before carding an 83 on the final day.
