The Bethel Royals women's golf team teed it up this past weekend at Prairie Links Golf Course, facing off against a field of 21 teams in challenging conditions. With steady winds gusting between 20 to 25 mph on Saturday, the Royals showed resilience and composure, ending the first round in a tie for 5th place.

Leading the charge on Day One were Raelynn Pannhoff and Courtney Hershberger, both carding strong rounds of 79. Courtney remained steady with no worse than a bogey and added a birdie on the par-5 5th. Rae sparked the round with an eagle on the short par-4 7th, helping set the tone for the team.

Sunday brought calmer conditions, and with the wind settling down, it was Christina Scheid and Sophie Brantner who rose to the occasion. Both fired rounds of 4-over-par, with Christina rolling in three birdies and Sophie turning in a steady scorecard highlighted by a single birdie. Despite their solid efforts, the rest of the squad couldn't quite keep pace, and the team slipped to a 10th-place finish overall. Their two-day total of 646 (+70) put them among the top half of a competitive 21-team field.

While the result wasn't what the Royals hoped for after a promising start, there were clear signs of potential. With individual highlights each day and flashes of strong play across the lineup, the team is eager to build on those moments as they look ahead.

With two golfers in the top 20 and solid contributions throughout the roster, Bethel continues to build momentum early in the fall campaign. Next up is a return to competition this coming weekend at Emerald Greens, where Gustavus Adolphus will host. The Royals are refocused and ready to sharpen their play, aiming to convert promise into performance and climb the leader board.
