RESULTS - U of M | Gene Glader Classic
ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - The Royal duo of Grant Nelson and Jacob Parent went 1-2 in the 400m dash at the University of Minnesota. Nelson won the race, pulling ahead in the final turn to win in 48.25. Parent took 2nd in a season best 48.67. Those times put Nelson and Parent 4th and 8th in Division III, respectively. Caleb Ketterling took 8th place in a personal best time of 50.63.
Sam Raitz won the 200m dash as he blazed to an indoor personal best time of 22.41 seconds.
Jayson Ekiyor led a quartet of Royal hurdlers to the finals on Friday evening. Ekyior took 3rd place with his time of 7.99 seconds, David Myres was 6th in 8.20, Josh Thomsen was 7th in 8.25, and Pryce Ferrin took 9th in 8.42. Myres' time in the prelim of 8.18 was a season best and now ranks him 22nd on the Division III honor roll, while Ekiyor's season best of 7.93 ranks him 4th, and Thomsen's season best of 8.24 ranks 32nd.
Taaron Rudzitis ran a season best 1:24.80 to take 3rd place in the 600m run.
Victor Lelinga was 4th in the 800m run with his time of 1:58.10, and Gabe Kuecker was 9th as he broke the 2-minute barrier for the first time indoors, running 1:59.92.
AJ Hokanson had a lifetime best toss of 18.05m / 59'2.75" to place 5th. Hokanson is the MIAC leader in the event, and is ranked 22nd in Division III.
Nick Bovitz jumped a season best 13.33m / 43'9" in the triple jump, to take 5th place overall.
Godsword Simon took 6th place in the 60m dash, running 6.98 seconds, just 0.01 ahead of teammate Cameron McConnell who took 7th in 6.99.
Grant Graber took 6th place in the 3k with a personal best time of 8:40.71

Next week, the Royals will compete at the MIAC Indoor Championships, hosted by St. John's. The Royals are the 2-time reigning team champions. Competition begins on Thursday, February 27th with the heptathlon, while the main portion of the championships will be run on Friday the 28th and Saturday, March 1st.Â
