MENOMONIE, Wis. –
Grant Nelson was a part of 2 meet records as the Royals won three events at the Warren Bowlus Open hosted by UW-Stout on Saturday. Nelson obliterated the field in the 200m dash, running the 7
th fastest time in Division III this season, 21.92 seconds. Nelson also led off the winning 4x400m relay team that included
Caleb Ketterling,
Sam Raitz, and
Alex Palm. Their time of 3:24.60 edged out Bethel's other 4x400m relay team, which finished 2
nd in 3:26.97.
Jacob Parent won the 60m dash in a time of 6.88 seconds, which puts him 23
rd on the Division III honor roll. Parnet was also a part of the 4x400m relay team that took 2
nd place.
Josh Thomsen earned 2 top-5 finishes as he took 2
nd place to Nelson in the 200m dash with a time of 22.62, and took 5
th in the 60H with a time of 8.36.
Victor Lelinga was the top collegiate finisher in the 800m run, as his time of 1:56.11 placed him 2
nd overall. That time puts Lelinga 22
nd on the Division III honor roll. Lelinga was also a part of the 4x400m relay team that took 2
nd place.
Caleb Ketterling ran an indoor personal best of 51.31 in the 400m dash to place 3
rd overall.
Bethel earned a handful of top-5 finishes from freshmen middle distance runners on Saturday. In the mile
TJ Strubbe took 4
th in 4:43.18 while
Gavin Hansen was 5
th in 4:44.48. In the 600m run, Michael Shultz took 3
rd in 1:28.00,
Logan Hays was 4
th in 1:29.18, and
Calvin Snesrud was 5
th in 1:30.37.
AJ Hokanson took 4
th in the weight throw with a season best toss of 16.99m / 55'9".
The Royals will compete next week at the Mark Guthrie Legacy Invite at UW-Lacrosse on Saturday, February 8
th.
