The Bethel men's soccer team earned a hard-won victory over the Carleton College Knights, 2-0. The win brings the team's record to 6-4-0 on the season thus far.
How It Happened:
- The first half saw tension rising as both teams sought to find the opening goal for nearly the entire first 45 minutes. But it was Bethel who got on the board first at 37:32 when Nathan Hunt delivered a perfect thru-ball from the Royals' defensive half down the field to Carter Sheard, who outpaced the Knight defenders and rocketed a shot into the upper lefthand corner of the net.
- The Royals entered the second half with a narrow lead, but Jordan Oberholtzer broadened the gap in the 51st minute by stealing the ball away from a Carleton player, dribbling past two defenders, and drilling the ball into the bottom right corner of the net. 2-0, Bethel.
- Bethel's defense and goalkeeper Griffin Blokker withstood the offensive attacks from the Knights, who became much more aggressive in the attacking third throughout the second period. Blokker made two critical saves in the second half to earn a shutout and secure the win for Bethel.
