RESULTS
REDLANDS, Cali. - The Royals won 4 events as sophomores Adam Hokanson and Landen Liu set program records in the hammer throw and 100m dash at the Redlands Invitational in California.
Adam Hokanson was the top collegiate finisher in the hammer throw, as he opened his sophomore campaign with a school record of 56.55m / 185'6", which placed him 2nd overall. Hokanson's mark bested the previous record, set by Gabe Irons in 2022.
Landen Liu, fresh off his All-American performance in the 60m dash, set a personal best and program record in the 100m dash to open the outdoor season. Liu took 2nd place with his time of 10.54 seconds. Cameron McConnell was 6th in 10.81.
Grant Nelson won the 200m dash in a personal best time of 21.37, just 0.02 away from the school record set last year by teammate Jacob Parent. Cameron McConnell was 7th in 21.97.
Josh Sampson won the 110 meter hurdles with a personal best time of 14.29 seconds. That is the 3rd best time in program history. Jayson Ekiyor took 3rd in 14.47 and David Myres was 4th in 15.00.
Joel Smith had a come from behind victory in the 400 meter hurdles, pulling in front on the final hurdle to win in 52.26. David Myres was 4th in a personal best 54.19 and Josh Thomsen was 6th in 55.44.
Jonah Kalsnes earned his first victory as a Royal by winning the 5000m run in a personal best time of 15:53.62, 40 seconds better than his previous best. David Price was 4th with his time of 16:35.38, a personal best by 59 seconds.
Adam Hokanson and Phil Conant took 2nd and 3rd in the discus, respectively. Hokanson threw a personal best 41.89m / 137'5" and Conant threw 41.04m / 134'8". Jacob Parent took 2nd place in the 400m dash with his time of 47.96. Sam Gardeen took 4th in the pole vault, clearing 4.40m / 14'5.25". Clark Nelson was 6th in the 1500m run in 4:15.94.
The Royals will compete next at the Hamline Invite on Saturday, April 6th.
