NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Bethel Royals won their 3rd consecutive MIAC Indoor Track & Field title on Saturday, scoring 158 points, winning over St. Ben's in 2nd with 120 points, and Gustavus in 3rd with 109.5 points.
The Royals took home 1st place in the 4x400m relay, giving Bethel 4 event titles during the championship weekend. The team of Abbie Swenson, Shalom Sulungaine, Annessa Ihde, and Hailey Gregg ran 3:55.92 and won by 7.75 seconds.
Ihde ran a strong 600m earlier in the day, earning her 2nd place in a time of 1:36.65. Sulungaine (1:38.40) and Reanna Cruz (1:38.81) both ran personal bests to take 4th and 5th place respectively.
The 4x200m relay team of Jireh Babalola, Abbie Swenson, Hailey Gregg, and Hannah Kvant took 2nd place with their time of 1:45.23.
The Royals had 3 runner-up finished in the field events on Saturday. Emily Pearson took 2nd in the pole vault, clearing 3.55m / 11'7.75", while Raina Kaping was 3rd with a clearance of 3.35m / 10'11.75".
Ellie Hernes was 2nd in the triple jump with a leap of 11.63m / 38'2", while AnnaGrace Nelson was 3rd with a jump of 11.35m / 37'3".
Nora Wilhelm took 2nd in the shot put with a toss of 12.88m / 42'3.25".
Kelsie Sealock earned a podium finish in the 200m dash by taking 3rd place in 26.07 seconds. Jireh Babalola gave Bethel 3 points with her 6th place finish in 26.49.
Ruby Gernandt scored a point for the Royals by running a personal best in the 1000m of 3:06.48 to take 8th place.
The Royals will compete next weekend at the UW-LaCrosse Qualifier as a final opportunity to earn a qualifying mark for the Division III National Championships on March 8-9 in Virginia Beach.
