RESULTS | Day 1 Recap
NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Bethel Royals are in 1st place after day 2 of the MIAC Championships with 77 team points. Carleton is in 2nd place with 58 points, and St. Benedict is 3rd with 56 points. The Royals earned 3 event titles on Friday along with 2 more podium finishes.
Kelsie Sealock blazed her way to victory in the 60 meter hurdles, setting a MIAC Championship record with her time of 8.52 seconds.
AnnaGrace Nelson won a thrilling high jump competition that came down to a tie-breaking jump-off with Gustavus' Ally Rakow. Nelson cleared a personal best 1.63m / 5'4.25", which ranks 33rd in Division III. Immediately after the high jump competition, Nelson earned 3rd place in the 60 meter hurdles with her time of 9.30. Ellie Hernes added in a 7th place finish for Bethel with her time of 9.45 seconds.
Annessa Ihde earned her first individual MIAC title by winning the 800m run. Ihde ran 2:17.61 and pulled away from the field in the final lap, splitting just 31.66 seconds over the final 200m. Reanna Cruz gave the Royals 2 more points by finishing 7th in 2:22.21.
Hailey Gregg took 3rd place in the 400m run. Gregg won her heat by over a second, setting a personal best time of 58.85 seconds. Abbie Swenson took 6th place in 60.13, and Hannah Hvant was 8th in 60.55.
Bethel also picked up 9 team points in the 60 meter dash. Jireh Babalola was 4th in 7.88 seconds, while Raina Kaping was 5th in a personal best time of 7.96 seconds.
Anna Speratos took 4th place in the weight throw with her best toss of 15.36m / 50'4.75".
At the end of the day, the Distance Medley Relay team of Anna Cargill, Morgan Dean, Ruby Gernandt, and Josie Harms placed 5th with their time of 12:43.57.
The Championships will conclude on Saturday at St. Olaf with the field events starting at 11:00AM and the running events starting at 1:00PM.
