Men's Track and Field Competes at Snowshoe Open, Win Gene Glader Classic

RESULTS - Snowshoe Open | Gene Glader Classic
 
ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The 4th ranked Royals won the Gene Glader Classic on Saturday with a total of 224 points, beating 2nd place UW-Superior who finished with 101 points. Bethel won 7 events at their annual home meet.
 
Godsword Simon won the 60m dash in a personal best time of 7.01 seconds, the 5th fastest time in program history.
 
Josh Lee won 2 events on Saturday, taking 1st in the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 8.81 seconds. Lee came back to win the 200m in a personal best time of 23.18.
 
Clark Nelson won the 1000m run in a personal best time of 2:36.90.
 
Bethel went 1-2 in the mile with Eli Berg outleaning teammate Luke Peterson at the line to win in a time of 4:34.23 to Peterson's 4:34.26.
 
PJ Marshall won the 3000m run as he led a majority of the race, then kicked to take 1st in a personal best time of 9:23.50.
 
The 4x200m relay team of Cameron McConnell, Sam Raitz, Tony Haack, and David Myres won in a MIAC leading time of 1:30.20.
 
Evan Larsen and Adam Hokanson added another 1-2 finish for the Royals in the weight throw. Larsen won the event with a MIAC leading mark of 17.11m / 56'1.75" and Hokanson was 2nd with a toss of 16.55m / 54'3.75".
 
Bethel also sent several athletes to compete at the University of Minnesota's Snowshoe Open on Friday evening. Grant Nelson won the 400m dash in a personal best time of 48.37 seconds, which ranks 5th on the Division III honor roll.
 
Jacob Parent won the 200m dash in a personal best time of 21.74 seconds, which ranks 5th on the Division III honor roll.
 
Jayson Ekiyor led a strong Royal's hurdle crew, finishing 2nd in a personal best 7.96 seconds. That time ranks 3rd on the Division III honor roll. Josh Sampson took 6th in 8.11, and David Myres had a personal best of 8.16 to take 7th. Samspon is ranked 9th and Myres is ranked 22nd in Division III this season.
 
Sam Gardeen took 2nd place in the pole vault, clearing 4.51m / 14'9.5" and Josh Graske took 3rd with a clearance of 4.06m / 13'3.75".
 
The Royals hope to carry this momentum into the MIAC Championship at St. Olaf this coming weekend. Competition begins with the men's heptathlon and women's pentathlon on Thursday.

The Championships get underway with full teams on Friday with field events beginning at 2:30 pm and running events starting at 4:00 pm.
