RESULTS: UW-STOUT | SDSU
The Royals highlighted their weekend with Jacob Parent setting a program record in the 400m dash on Saturday at South Dakota State University. Parent took 2nd place in the meet, running 47.70, breaking Karl Olsen's record of 47.88 from 2018. His time is now the 5th fastest in Division III this year.
The majority of the Royals competed at the UW-Stout Quad on Friday night. Adam Hokanson and Evan Larsen led the way for Bethel as they both finished top-5 in the weight throw and shot put. Hokanson took 3rd (16.63m / 54.6.75") in the weight and 5th (15.05m / 49'4.5") in the shot, while Larsen was 4th place in both shot (15.13m / 49'7.75") and weight (16.57m / 54'4.5"). Â
Sam Gardeen and Simon Swenson provided more field event presence for the Royals. Gardeen was 5th in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.47m / 14'8". Swenson took 3rd in the triple jump with a leap of 12.56m / 41'2.5".Â
On the track, Victor Lelinga ran boldly from the front in the 800m and ended up with 4th place with a season best 1:57.36. Lelinga was also a part of the 4x400m relay team, along with Drew Schmitz, Clark Nelson, and Eli Berg, which placed 4th in 3:31.75.
Josh Lee ran a lifetime best of 8.63 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles to place 5th. Freshman Sam Raitz took 7th in his first collegiate 400m in 52.16. Tony Haack had an indoor personal best time of 23.32 to take 7th in the 200m dash.Â
In the first indoor 5k of his career, Grant Graber ran the 5th fastest time in program history with his time of 15:24.34, placing 12th overall.Â
The Royals will compete next as they host their annual home meet, the Gene Glader Classic, on Saturday, February 17th.
