STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Bethel University men's hockey team suffered its third straight loss to open the season falling at No. 11 Wisconsin-Stevens Point, 5-2.
Both of Bethel's goals came while on the power play.
Tyler Kostelecky lit up the lamp for the first time this season 11:29 into the second as it pulled the Royals within 2-1.
Conceding a goal in the opening minute of the third, BU got one back with
Liam Hennessy's man-advantage goal at the 4:28 mark with Kostelecky and
Jack Brown assisting.
The Pointers led 1-0 after the first before going up two with just over 11 minutes left in the second. UWSP notched its only power-play goal of the night in the third in what was its fourth man advantage of the night. They added an empty netter with over 30 seconds to go.
The Royals held a 31-27 shots on frame advantage including a 15-6 mark in the third.
Austin Ryman in the crease collected 22 saves.
Bethel looks to pick up its first win of the year when they travel to Wisconsin-Eau Claire for a 7 p.m. puck drop Saturday night.
