Smith 5th, Schlegel 6th at MIAC Decathlon

RESULTS | DAY 1 RECAP

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Micah Smith and Abe Schlegel scored points for the Royals in the MIAC Decathlon on Thursday and Friday, May 4-5. This is the 1st time that multiple Royals have scored in the MIAC Decathlon in program history.

Smith scored a personal best 5,803 points to place 5th. Smith had lifetime best performances in the shot put, 110m hurdles, javelin, and 1500m. Schlegel scored 5,767 points in his 1st ever decathlon. Schlegel had lifetime best performances in the 100m, 110m hurdles, discus, and pole vault. Smith's mark currently ranks him 35th in Division III and is the 9th best performance in program history, while Schlegel sits 42nd in Division III and is the 10th best performer in program history.

Smith's 5th place finish gave the Royals 4 team points, and Schlegel's 6th place finish gave Bethel 3 more points. Those will be added to the team point total from the MIAC Championships, which will be hosted at Bethel University for the 1st time ever, next weekend, Friday, May 12th and Saturday, May 13th.
