Men's Track & Field Opened 2026 at Macalester Vanessa Seljeskog Classic

ST. PAUL, MINN.—The Bethel University men's track & field team opened 2026 at the Macalester Vanessa Seljeskog Classic on Saturday. The Royals took third place out of 12 teams with 80 points. Minnesota-Duluth claimed the team title with 168 points.

The Royals accumulated 11 career bests on the day.

One of those career bests belonged to Pryce Ferrin, who registered a first-place time of 8.29 in the 60 meter hurdles prelims, and followed that with a second-place mark of 8.39 in the finals. Blake Viesselman followed with a pair of third-place times in the 60 meter hurdle prelims (8.55), and finals (career-best 8.44). Logan Swanson came through in fifth place with an 8.63 in the 60 meter hurdle prelims, and a career-best 8.53 in the finals, which put him in fourth place.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Blake Viesselman, Elliott Kent, Logan Swanson, and Caleb Ketterling claimed the title with a 3:25.84.

Second place was in the cards for Sam Raitz, who crossed the finish line at 22.74 in the 200 meter dash. Nick Bovitz kept the second-place trend going with a career-best 6.76 in the long jump. Stephen Feig's 4.20m in the pole vault also put him in second place.

Sixth place was the case for Timmy Ball in the weight throw (15.62m), Luc Swanson in the high jump (1.75m), and Caleb Ketterling in the 600 meter run (1:23.79).

The Royals will compete at the Saint Benedict/Saint John's Invite on Friday, January 30.
