RESULTS
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Royals had 3 individuals qualify for finals at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday and set program records in the men's 4x400m relay, and the men's 60m hurdles.
Jayson Ekiyor won his 60m hurdle heat and earned an automatic qualifier into Saturday's final. His time of 8.06 seconds ties his own program record, and was the 2nd fastest time in the preliminary round.
Josh Sampson missed qualifying for finals by the slimmest of margins: 0.001. Sampson ran a personal best time of 8.15 seconds and finished 9th overall.Â
Kelsie Sealock qualified for the finals of the women's 60m hurdles, as she took 2nd in her heat with a time of 8.59 seconds. Sealock comes into Saturday with the 5th fastest time in the field.Â
Landen Liu was one of only two athletes to qualify for finals in both the 60m dash and the 200m dash. Liu ran 6.81 in the 60m, the 6th fastest time of the day. Liu was the 8th and final qualifier for the 200m with his time of 21.60.Â
The men's 4x400m relay team of
Joel Smith,
Grant Nelson,
Josh Sampson, and
Jacob Parent set the program record in the 4x400m relay and qualified for finals with their time of 3:13.97. Parent had the fastest split of the entire field, splitting 47.03 seconds on his anchor leg. Parent and Smith both ran the 400m dash earlier in the day. Parent finished 10th with a time of 48.29 and Smith was 15th with a personal best 48.69
The women's 4x400m relay team of
Kelsie Sealock,
Mikayla Turek,
Hailey Gregg, and
Sarah Stellmach ran a season best time of 3:52.27 to qualify for finals with the 7th fastest time. Stellmach had the fastest split for the Royals, running 56.60. Stellmach was scheduled to compete in the 60m dash earlier in the day, but unfortunately was disqualified for a false start.Â
