ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Heavy defensive pressure from Concordia early led to a turnover heavy game for the Bethel University women's basketball team as they fell 64-55 to the Cobbers Saturday afternoon.
Despite tallying 27 turnovers, compared to Concordia's 13, BU outshot the Cobbers by a 40 percent to 31.6 percent mark.
The Royals also out rebounded CC by a 42-35 margin, but the difference was the points off turnovers column where Concordia held a 25-12 advantage.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
• Concordia's full court pressure got to the Royals early turning it over 10 times in the first quarter.
• The Royals were efficient though in their shot selections going 6-of-9 from the field, but the Cobbers were 7-of-18 while adding a 9-for-10 mark at the line to lead 25-13.
• Bethel found its composure in the second quarter breaking the press while cooling down the Cobbers hot hand.

Alli Born knocked down her first three of the game with 5:49 left pulling the Royals within 30-20.
• Late free throws helped the Cobbers widen the margin with a 40-26 halftime deficit for Bethel.
Second Half
• An offensive rebound putback by
Lauren Johnson with 2:38 to go in the third finally got BU's deficit to single digits at 44-36.
The Cobbers put their lead back to 13 relying on the three ball before free throws from
Elly Schmitz made it 52-41 after three.
• Despite shooting struggles behind the arc in the fourth, where BU was just 1-of-5, a pair of makes at the charity stripe from
Anna Garfield cut it to 58-51 with 2:09 to go.
• Bethel would get no closer than seven being held to just a free throw and a three for the final two minutes.
KEY PERFORMERS

Anna Garfield had a team-high 14 points to go along with six rebounds.

Elly Schmitz and
Colette Duininck each contributed 10 points with Schmitz adding a game-high eight rebounds.
