West Salem, Wis. – With a pair of top-25 individual finishers, the Bethel University women's cross country team notched a fifth place finish at the 20-team Tori Neubauer Invite hosted by Wisconsin-La Crosse Saturday afternoon.
Bethel's attention now turns to the MIAC Championships set for Saturday, Oct. 28 at Carleton in Northfield. The women's 6k begins at 12 p.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• For the third straight meet, junior
Josie Harms was Bethel's top finisher clocking a 6k time of 23:36.7 and placing 20th.
• Sophomore
Anna Cargill had her best 6k finish placing 21st with a career-best time of 23:38.6. She was at 15:49.0 at the 4k mark before jumping up three spots .86k later with a 3:22.2 split.
• Junior
Ruby Gernandt made her way up the board from the very start. By the 4k mark she improved by 28 spots with a time of 16:35.6 She finished the race 57th in a career-best time of 24:28.2.
• Junior
Esther Nelson finished 60th with a career-best mark of 24:30.2 with senior
Laura Hardwick rounding out the top five placing 67th in a career-best time of 24:34.3.
