Kayla Simacek received MIAC weekly accolades. Both student-athletes has major notable performances from the past week as both the women's tennis and softball teams completed spring break trips in Florida.Â

Grace Riermann remained perfect on the year with a 12-0 singles and 12-0 doubles record following eight combined wins this past week. Through her first 24 sets of singles play, Riermann has only dropped one game. She helped BU to a team win over Carthage with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles after picking up an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Riermann capped the week with a clean No. 1 singles sweep of St. Lawrence 6-0, 6-0 after completing a doubles win at 8-1.
MIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

Kayla Simacek picked up three wins in the circle for the Royals last week, tossing 19 innings of shutout softball while striking out a combined 29 batters and walking none. Against Meredith on 3/15, she struck out 12 while giving up one hit in the complete-game effort. She followed that up two hours later with another complete-game shutout of Plattsburgh, striking out eight in a six-inning game that was shortened due to inclement weather. Simacek helped pushed BU's win streak to seven in the win over New Paltz on 3/17 with nine strikeouts and one hit allowed in six innings of work.
