MOORHEAD, MINN.—The Bethel University softball team swept Concordia (Minn.) in Moorhead, Minnesota by scores of 9-0 (5 innings) and 7-4 on Saturday.
The Royals improve to 14-20, 9-7 MIAC, while the Cobbers fall to 10-20, 2-14 MIAC.
Bethel 9, Concordia 0 (5 innings) (Game One)
Royals pitcher Dominique Walicke tossed a no-hitter over 5.0 innings of work, where she surrendered three walks and notched one strikeout. The last Royal no hitter was May 1, 2024, courtesy of Kayla Simacek in an 8-0 win over St. Scholastica.
Bethel finished with 11 hits. Julia Helget was 2-for-3 with a grand slam in the fifth inning, and one double. Going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI was Greta Stanek, while Mandalyn Franks finished 2-for-4 with one run scored, and one stolen base. Sidney Bartels's 1-for-3 outing included one double and one stolen base, while Otterness's 1-for-3 performance consisted of a home run in the fifth inning, two runs scored, one RBI, one walk, and one stolen base.
Bethel 7, Concordia 4 (Game Two)
The driver's seat belonged to Bethel from start-to-finish as they finished the contest with 10 hits, while Concordia had nine.
Going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBI, and one walk was Sidney Bartels. Also finishing 2-for-3 was Ellie Baker, who had two-run singles in the first and fourth innings. Julia Helget was 1-for-2 with one double, one run scored, and two walks. Camryn Thurow was also 1-for-2 with two walks, and one run scored.Â
Bethel starting pitcher Brianna Tix allowed six hits, three runs (two earned), one walk, and had two strikeouts over 5.2 innings of work. Abby Otterness surrendered three hits and one run over the final 1.1 innings.
Bailey Plante led Concordia with a 2-for-3 outing that included one home run, two RBI, and one run scored. Also hitting a home run for the Cobbers was Reese Hauck, who finished 1-for-3.
The Royals will host No. 3 Saint Mary's (Minn.) (DH) at Ona Orth tomorrow, Sunday, April 26 at 1 p.m.
