ARDEN HILLS, MINN.—The Bethel University softball team fell to No. 3 Saint Mary's (Minn.) by scores of 6-0 and 8-0 (5 innings) at Ona Orth Complex on Sunday.
The Royals fall to 14-22, 9-9 MIAC, while the Cardinals improve to 33-5, 18-2 MIAC.
Saint Mary's 6, Bethel 0 (Game One)
Cardinals pitcher Makayla Steffes allowed five hits and notched 10 strikeouts over 7.0 innings of work in a complete-game shutout.Â
Molly Closser finished 2-for-3 at the plate for Bethel.Â
Mary Hajduk pitched the opening 3.0 innings before Dominique Walicke tossed the final 4.0. They combined to give up 13 hits, and six runs.Â
Megan McGinnis went 4-for-4 with two home runs, three runs scored, and three RBI for the Cardinals. Steffes and Amanda Teschky each finished 2-for-4 with one double.
Saint Mary's (Minn.) 8, Bethel 0 (5 innings)
Kenzie Gatz surrendered just two hits, three walks, and had five strikeouts in a complete-game victory.Â
Lucie Voigt and Julia Helget each went 1-for-2 for Bethel.
Abby Otterness tossed the first 3.1 innings for the Royals, followed by 1.2 from Mary Hajduk. They combined to give up eight hits, eight runs, two walks, and notch five strikeouts.
Steffes went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and three RBI at the plate for Saint Mary's.
Bethel will host Augsburg (DH) for senior day on Wednesday, April 29 at 3:30 p.m.
