ARDEN HILLS, MINN.—The Bethel University softball team swept Augsburg (DH) on senior day by scores of 12-2 (5 innings) and 7-2 at the Ona Orth Complex on Wednesday.
Seniors Julia Helget, Molly Closser, Sidney Bartels, Mandalyn Franks, and Ellie Baker were honored following the game.
The Royals improve to 16-22, 11-9 MIAC, while the Auggies fall to 7-28, 2-17 MIAC.
Bethel 12, Augsburg 2 (Game One)
The Auggies were held to just two hits thanks to starting pitcher Dominique Walicke. She gave up two hits, two runs, no walks, and notched four strikeouts over 4.0 innings before Abby Otterness pitched a perfect fifth inning.
Sidney Bartels, who engineered a Bethel offense that pounded 12 hits, finished 2-for-2 with a three-run home run in the first inning, a grand slam in the second inning, eight RBI, a sacrifice fly, and two runs scored. Julia Helget came through with a 2-for-3 performance that consisted of two doubles, two runs scored, and one RBI. Also going 2-for-3 was Ellie Baker.
Mandalyn's Franks's first-inning triple highlighted her 2-for-2 outing that resulted in three runs scored, and one walk. Abby Otterness was 2-for-3 with one double, two runs scored, and two RBI.
Bethel 7, Augsburg 2 (Game Two)
Both teams had nine hits.Â
Mandalyn Franks paced Bethel at the plate with a 3-for-4 outing that included three RBI, one stolen base, and one run scored. Also leading the way was Otterness, who was 3-for-4 with one triple, three stolen bases, and three runs scored.Â
Molly Closser's 2-for-3 outing consisted of one RBI double, and a two-run single. Sidney Bartels's RBI single in the first inning highlighted her 1-for-2 performance that went with one walk, one stolen base, and one run scored.
Otterness and Brianna Tix combined to give up nine hits and two runs. Tix had four strikeouts over the final 5.0 innings to secure the winning decision.
The Royals will conclude their 2026 regular season at Gustavus Adolphus (DH) on Saturday, May 2 at 1 p.m.
