Balanced Attack Leads Royals to Eighth Road Win

DULUTH, Minn. – Behind 12 players putting a tally in the scoring column the Bethel University women's basketball team picked up their eighth road win of the year defeating the College of St. Scholastica, 79-38.

Another big-time defensive effort saw the Royals collect 22 steals while turning over the Saints 35 turnovers into 39 points on the other end.

For the 17th straight game, Hayden Glander reached double figures scoring 13 points and going a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc. Courtney Nuest also chipped in 13 points while Kat Brown Erdal closed out the top scorers with nine. Bella Williams added another even stat line with nine points, nine assists and six steals.

Both teams had a slow start on offensive before Makenna Pearson knocked down her only three of the night and surpassing the 1,000 career point mark. CSS held the lead for a 1:41 in the first before Glander gained it back with a three ball.

Bethel expanded on its 14-10 advantage while holding the Saints to eight second-quarter points. Despite only shooting 40 percent in that 10-minute stretch, BU held a 28-18 lead at the break.

A 14-0 scoring run for the Royals didn't see them give up a bucket between the 8:25 and 1:43 mark in the third. The defense stayed strong in the fourth holding the Saints to a lone field goal.

Bethel's bench produced 15 of its 32 points through the final 10 minutes.

The Royals are back in the Robertson Center Saturday against Macalester. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. with a senior day ceremony scheduled to take place beforehand.
