ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – A big defensive fourth quarter that held previous unbeaten Concordia to six points lifted the Bethel University women's basketball team to a 55-48 victory over the Cobbers inside the Robertson Center.
The Royals forced 23 turnovers turning that into 12 points on the other end. They also held the Cobbers to a minimal 26.4 percent from the field while shooting 35.2 percent.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
• A 9-0 run late in the first helped the Royals jump out to a 19-8 lead before Concordia hit a three at the buzzer to end the first.
• A tough second quarter shooting wise saw a combined six field goals from the squad with BU hold its opponent to two.
• BU's aggressiveness put the Cobbers in the bonus early in the second as they shot 8-of-12 from the charity stripe cutting the Royals lead to 29-24 at the break.
Second Half
• The third quarter itself saw six lead changes and four ties.
• Back-to-back threes form
Autumn Earney caused two of those lead changes.
Anna Garfield had the quarters' final bucket with 1:09 left making it 44-42.
• Bethel's defense held Concordia scoreless in the fourth until the 2:07 mark.
• Emma Schutlz's three-point play with 1:37 left made it 51-44. From that point on BU's remaining scoring came at the free throw line.
KEY PERFORMERS

Anna Garfield had a game-high 14 points for the Royals adding eight rebounds.

Emma Schultz finished with 12 points and four steals.
•
Courtney Nuest brought in eight rebounds with three assists and two steals.
