2022 MSOC All-MIAC

Caspari, Swanda Named to All-MIAC Sqaud

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Senior forward Matthias Caspari and freshman defender Ryan Swanda were both named to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference 2022 Men’s Soccer All-Conference Team. 

Both individuals earn the honor for the first time in their career and it marks the first time since 2016 that the Royals boasted multiple honorees on the All-MIAC squad. Caspari was named to the honorable mention team in 2021.

• Caspari appeared in 20 matches starting in 19 of them. 

• He scored eight goals this year which finished seventh in the MIAC while tallying 16 points.

• He had two multi-goal performances scoring twice against Northwestern and Crown early in the season. He had the game winner in each of those matches while both his goals at Crown came in the form of a penalty kick. 

• Against conference opponents he added goals against Hamline, Saint John's and Concordia-Moorhead.

• Logging 1,219 minutes of action he took 39 shots this year, 19 of which were on frame.

RYAN SWANDA MARCHES UP FIELD

• Swanda is the first player since Reed Thunstrom (2004) to be named to the All-MIAC squad in their rookie season. 

• A strong force on the back line, he appeared and played in 18 matches this season. 

• He added a pair of goals and four assists for eight points.

• His biggest assist of the year came in the final regular season game setting up a Lucas Johnson goal in the sixth minute against Augsburg which held as the game winner that put BU into the MIAC Playoffs. 

• Assisted BU's back line and goalies to a 1.30 goals against average.
