DAY 1 RESULTS
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Bethel Royals women finished day 1 of the MIAC Outdoor Championships in 3rd place with 33 team points, just 2 points outside of 1st place.
POINT SCORERS
Grace Perrenoud was the top point scorer for Bethel on day 1 as she took 2nd place in the long jump. Perrenoud scored 8 points with her jump of 5.16m / 16'11.25".
The Royals picked up 15 points in the javelin throw early on Friday.
Lauren Wagner took 3rd place with a throw of 34.54m / 113'3.75", giving Bethel 6 team points.
Lauren Bonin earned 4th place with her toss of 33.02m / 108'4" - a personal best by over 10 feet - to give the Royals 5 points.
Sally Paul took 5th place for Bethel with her throw of 32.39m / 106'3.25", which added 4 points to Bethel's total. Paul also added 3 points with her 6th place finish in the heptathlon (3,838) at the Combined Event Championships last week.
Freshman
Raina Moorjani had a terrific debut in the 10k on Friday evening. Her time of 39:36.19 placed her 7th overall, scoring 2 more points for the Royals.
The evening finished with the 4x800m relay.
Emily Brockberg,
Grace Cole,
Malakai Holloway, and
Annessa Ihde placed 4th with their time of 9:37.33 - the 10th best time in program history.
FINALISTS
With many prelim races being run on Friday, Bethel qualified 9 athletes for finals on Saturday, including 3 athletes that will go in as the top seeds.
Kelsie Sealock ran the fastest 100m hurdle prelim with her time of 14.32.
Mikayla Turek ran a personal best 1:03.48 in the 400m hurdles to finish first in prelims. Her time is also the 3rd best in program history.
Annessa Ihde led from wire-to-wire in the 800m for a collegiate best 2:15.83, which was the top time in the prelims.
Hannah Sankey (58.76) and
Britta Nordberg (58.79) both won their heats of the 400m to earn an automatic qualifier to the finals. Nordberg's time was a personal best and ranks 9th on Bethel's all-time list.
Grace Cole qualfied for the finals of the 1500m by running 4:56.00.
Jireh Babalola (12.87) and
Grace Scott (12.96) both qualified for the 100m finals despite running into a headwind. Freshman
Jessie Smith qualified on time for the finals of the 400m hurdles by running a personal best 1:08.77.
CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY
The Royals will conclude the MIAC Championships on Saturday with the field events beginning at noon and running events starting at 1:00 PM. Fans are allowed at the meet with a mask requirement. Follow all the action here:
