Shalom Sulungaine Earns All-American First Team With A School Record In The 400 Meter Dash on Day Two of 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship

ARDEN HILLS, MINN.—Shalom Sulungaine highlighted the Bethel University Royals on day two of the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday. 

Sulungaine registered sixth place in the 400 meter run finals with a school-record time of 55.76, which landed her 2026 USTFCCCA Indoor All-American First Team. This broke her school record time of 55.82 in yesterday's 400 meter prelims, which put her in eighth place. Sulungaine is the fourth Royal in school history to earn Indoor All-American First Team in the 400 meter dash, and the first since Delia Labatt in 2018.

Also competing for the Royals on day two was Ellie Hernes, who DQ'd in the triple jump despite qualifying for the finals with an 11.91m on her third jump, which succeded fouls on her opening two attempts. She notched a leap of 12.01m on her fourth jump, but fouled her final two leaps.

The Royals will kick off their 2026 outdoor season at the Redlands Invitational on Friday, March 20.
