LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Four members of the Bethel University softball team earned NFCA Division III All-Midwest Region honors, announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Friday afternoon.

Kayla Simacek and Allie Fauth each earn their first career All-Midwest First Team honors. Bethel's last first teamer was Angie Jackson in 2014. Cortney Hokanson earns her first All-Region honor being named to the second team while Amanda Gemuenden earns her first career All-Region honor being named to the third team.

Simacek has made her mark in the national statistics with a program-record 200 strikeouts this year which ranks fifth nationally and third in the MIAC. Her 17 complete games led the league and ranks ninth nationally while she posts a 15-4 record with a 1.32 ERA. Simacek has tossed three perfect games this season. 

Fauth, who has been a two-time Second Team All-Region honoree, has been a star on the basepaths stealing a single-season record 31 bags on 32 attempts. Fauth ended the regular season with a .422 batting average crossing the plate 40 times. She has tilled 40 hits on the year including three triples while holding a .492 on-base percentage.

Hokanson has completed BU's battery behind the dish this year where she's caught five runners stealing and has allowed a minimal two passed balls. A threat at the dish, Hokanson is hitting .353 with 24 hits, seven doubles, 10 RBI and eight walks.

Gemuenden has been the Royals veteran in the outfield where she has started in 30 games. At the plate she is hitting .404 while driving in a team-leading 34 runs. Of her 38 hits, four have been doubles, two triples and one home run. She has drawn 16 walks and allies a .491 on-base percentage.

The awards salute student-athletes from the Association's eight NCAA regions with first, second and third-team honors. NFCA member coaches voted on the teams in their respective regions, and all honorees are eligible for selection to the 2021 NFCA Division III All-America squads. The 2021 NFCA Division III All-America teams will be announced on May 24.
