RESULTS
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Bethel Royals racked up six event titles at the Tomcat Twilight on Friday evening at St. Thomas.
EVENT VICTORIES
In the opening event of the day on the track, the Royal quartet of
Jireh Babalola,
Grace Scott,
Lauren Richards, and
Grace Perrenoud ran a season best and MIAC leading time in the 4x100m relay of 49.27 to win the event.
Senior
Hannah Sankey showed off her prowess in her specialty, the 400m. Sankey cruised her way to victory in 58.11, the top time in the MIAC this year, and the 25
th best time in Division III.
Annessa Ihde commanded the 800m from the opening gun. While amassing a huge lead, Ihde ran a season best 2:16.69 to win the race by over 8 seconds. Her time is the 33
rd fastest in Division III.
Mikayla Turek used her late race strength to pull off a win in the 400H. Her time of 1:05.17 is within a tenth of a second of her season best.
Captain
Lauren Wagner led the Royals in the field events. Wagner won the javelin throw with a toss of 117'2" / 35.71m which is over 15 feet better than her previous season best.
Jessica Lilland added another win for Bethel as she took 1
st place in the pole vault. Lilland cleared 11'6.5" / 3.52m on her third and final attempt and took several attempts at 12'0".
OTHER TOP FINISHES
Lauren Wagner added to her javelin victory with a 2
nd place finish in the hammer throw with her toss of 130'4" / 39.74m.
Emma Roethler took 2
nd place in the shot put and came away with a season best throw of 40'3.25" / 12.27m. Heptathlete
Sally Paul showed off her skills in the throws as she took 3
rd place in the javelin by throwing a season beset 107'7" / 32.79m".
In the jumps,
Grace Perrenoud came away with a 3
rd place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 34'6.25" / 10.58m.
Sadie Koelz took 3
rd in the pole vault as she soared over 10'0,75" / 3.07m.
After winning the 400m,
Hannah Sankey came back to take 2
nd in the 200m with a time of 26.27, while
Grace Scott dipped under 27-seconds to take 3
rd in 26.97. Scott also took 2
nd place in the 100m with a time of 12.65.
Britta Nordberg added a 3
rd place finish in the 400m with a season best time of 59.55.
Emily Brockberg finished strong in the 800m, passing a competitor in the final 80m to take 2
nd place in 2:24.86. Bethel took 2
nd and 3
rd in the 100m hurdles with
AnnaGrace Nelson running 16.63 and
Ally Stackhouse running 17.31, respectively.
UP NEXT
Bethel will be competing in a mid-week meet at St. Thomas on Wednesday evening. Then the Royals enter their championship season with the MIAC Multi-Event Championships on Thursday and Friday at Carleton College.
