RESULTS
ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - The Royals took home 8 individual event titles along with a team victory in their first outdoor track and field meet of the season, and their first since May of 2019. "Our women were very impressive today!" said Head Coach
Andrew Rock "We are training very hard and many of these women haven't competed in these events in quite a long time. To open up in such a good spot is very encouraging as we move forward."
Kelsie Sealock helped get the Royals rolling in the first event of the day as she won the 100m hurdles. In her first collegiate 100H race, Sealock obliterated the school record. Her time of 14.55 is the best mark by over three-tens of a second and ranks her 2nd in Division III.Â
Mikayla Turek blew away from the field in the 400m hurdles to take 1st place in her first collegiate 400m hurdle race. Her time of 1:05.13 ranks 8th in program history and 6th in Division III.Â
Bethel swept the hurdle events as
Erika Swanson won the 3000m steeplechase. While navigating 28 barriers and 7 water jumps over 3000m, Swanson ran 12:02.03 to win the race. In her first collegiate steeple, her time ranks her 8th in program history.Â
Grace Cole ran a terrific opener in the steeple to take 3rd place in 12:17.75.
Emma Roethler scored 20 points for the Royals as she took first place in two throwing events. Roethler opened up her day with a win in the shot put by tossing the 8 lb steel ball 11.82m / 38'9.5", a mark that ranks 7th in program history. She added to her point total by winning her first collegiate discus competition. Her toss of 36.23 / 118'10" put her 10th in program history.
In the 800m, the Royals tallied 16 team points thanks to a 1-3 finish from
Annessa Ihde and
Emily Brockberg. Ihde led from the gun on a windy day and held on to win the race in 2:21.57. Brockberg ran 2:29.25 for 3rd place.
Grace Perrenoud earned a victory in the triple jump. The indoor school reocrd holder jumped 10.70m / 35'1.25" to give Bethel 10 points.
The pole vaulting duo ofÂ
Jessica Lilland and
Sadie Koelz took 2nd and 3rd place, respectively, in their speciality event. Both women cleared 3.25m / 10'8" in a competition that was moved indoors due to the excessive crosswinds.
The day ended with
Makenna Brown,
Annessa Ihde,
Kelsie Sealock, and
Emily Brockberg winning the 4x400m relay in a time of 4:05.95, the 10th best time in Division III.
"We are thankful for our first outdoor meet in almost 2 years," said Coach Rock. "We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to compete today. It was also great to see many parents and families be able to attend their first meet in a very long time. It meant a lot to us all!"
The Royals will continue their outdoor season next week as the travel to UW-River Falls on Saturday, April 10th.Â
